Job Overview:

Sanctuary Personnel are seeking a Senior Speech & Language Therapist to join our client's dynamic Learning Disabilities Service based in Jersey, Channel Islands. This role involves providing specialised services to adults with learning disabilities and associated conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of Speech and Language Therapy Services for the Adult Learning Disability Service, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and professional standards.
  • Provide professional advice and guidance to senior managers on Speech and Language Therapy services for individuals with learning disabilities.
  • Develop and implement strategies and policies to maintain a high-quality service in line with organisational objectives.
  • Monitor and review working practices to ensure compliance with legislation and best practices.
  • Manage and mentor junior team members, ensuring the delivery of responsibilities to the highest standard.
  • Establish and maintain quality assurance programmes to uphold internal and external standards.
  • Assess complex cases and formulate diagnoses, coordinating care within a multidisciplinary framework.
  • Develop and deliver training programmes to improve understanding of client needs among staff and carers.
  • Contribute to the development and review of care protocols and packages.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or postgraduate diploma in Speech and Language Therapy, certified by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Postgraduate training in a specialist area or equivalent experience.
  • Registration with the Health Care Professionals Council and RCSLT.
  • Advanced Practitioner in Dysphagia.

Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in a highly specialist role within Learning Disabilities.
  • Specialist knowledge of AAC, Autism, Mental Health, Dysphagia, and learning disabilities.
  • Proficiency in using a range of AAC devices and IT equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation abilities.
  • Ability to analyse complex situations and make sound clinical judgments.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and service improvement.
